Meet The Team.

Rachel

I first became involved with mortgage prisoners when I was asked to be filmed for the Panorama documentary, ‘Trapped by my mortgage’. From then I began to lead the campaign through the Facebook Group. My mortgage is held with Landmark.

I have worked hard to bring change to those that are trapped after the 2008 crash and now work with different organisations to bring mortgage prisoners support for mental health and debt. I work on case studies against those unregulated firms and banks who treat our members unfairly. I am the chair on the committee at Harcus parker for the group litigation. We have helped set up the APPG for mortgage prisoners in parliament and work closely to bring legislation change.

I sit as a stakeholder for UK Mortgage Prisoners on the solutions group as a spokesperson. I have spoken in parliament at the mortgage prisoners debate held on the 6th June 2020

Jill

My mortgage is trapped with MAS 5 who are inactive lenders owned by the Co-op bank. I joined the UK Mortgage Prisoners Facebook group in 2018 and soon became actively involved in campaigning, advertising and being interviewed on TV and radio.

Along with others, I helped with the formation of the APPG for mortgage prisoners, attended the debate in parliament and am also a stakeholder for UK mortgage prisoners as a spokesperson on the solutions group. I also sit on the committee at Harcus Parker for the group litigation claim for UK mortgage prisoners.

Janice

I joined UK Mortgage Prisoners Group in 2019 and was so relieved to discover I was not alone in my situation.

I am a qualified solicitor with over 20 years experience in practice in residential and commercial property transactions and personal injury litigation though not currently practising due to health constraints.

I am trapped in an interest-only mortgage with Santander and until recently was held on their svr for over a decade post Financial Crash Affordability changes.

I am delighted to be able to use my legal and lived experience in the casework undertaken and along with Rachel and Jill to produce our reports, correspondence, press releases and general campaign work.

Monica

I am a First Aid for Mental Health instructor, up to Level 3 & in lock down have taken a qualification in Understanding Young People & Children’s Mental Health . My aim for now, is to offer you some simple signposts, tools & ideas to help you to choose to feel happier in some moments & more positive on some days, & even possibly ‘in control’ over all whilst we are all working towards freedom from this situation
